This year's event will be the ninth Old Glory Texas Days celebration and it is planned for June 30th.

"On August 9, 1918 the citizens of New Brandenburg officially changed the name of their town to Old Glory to show their pride and patriotism for their newly adopted country.  There are many German towns in Texas--Schulenburg, Muenster, Fredericksburg and Shiner just to name a few.  But it was the citizens of New Brandenburg that wanted to show the world that they were proud to be in America.  What  a better tribute than the name Old Glory!  This historic event took place many years ago.  Old Glory is not the same town it used to be.  Although, one thing still stands as strong as it did then: the people, not as many, but the few that are here, still have the same strong feelings of pride and patriotism in their community and in their country."
